Lama Q1 2026: The start of a new financial infrastructure

The Lama Team 4 min read

"The new way to manage your money is already here." With that clear vision, we close a first quarter (Q1) of 2026 that marks a fundamental inflection point in Lama's journey.

Over the past few months, our team focused on one primary objective: turning complex technology into a tangible financial solution. Today, we pause to share our key milestones and the roadmap that will guide our expansion.

The Major Milestone: Investment, Product, and Validation in Numbers

The biggest achievement this quarter has been our transition from infrastructure to an operating product. To support this convergence between traditional finance and digital assets on a single platform, we raised a strategic $4.2 million investment in El Salvador, consolidating our technology operations hub.

Lama Q1 2026

This strong backing enabled us to bring Lama into a real production environment, deploying our mobile app and WebApp for personal and corporate use.

We achieved operability for euro-denominated fiat accounts and seamless integration with the digital ecosystem.

On the adoption side, users are naturally adopting the core flows (sending, conversions, and transfers). We've seen strong engagement with our BTC wallet and EUR accounts, which allowed us to successfully validate our end-to-end technical infrastructure (capital entry, conversion, and exit) in a real market environment.

Regulatory Consolidation: Ready for the world

Institutional adoption requires an unbreakable legal foundation. On this front, our most relevant progress has been the consolidation of our regulatory framework in El Salvador.

Today, we operate with our active Bitcoin Services Provider (BSP) license and have advanced to the final stage (Phase 3) for obtaining the comprehensive digital assets license (CNAD). Our entire architecture is strictly aligned with global compliance requirements (KYC, AML, and custody). Lama is firmly positioned as a platform ready to operate internationally on a regulated and auditable foundation. Importantly, the successful completion of this licensing process will be the step that formally enables us to integrate new crypto-assets into our ecosystem.

Looking ahead to Q2: Activation and Expansion

If Q1 was the period of building, the leadership objective for Q2 is decisive: brand positioning, user activation, sustained volume generation, and return.

To achieve this, we will roll out key functionalities designed to make Lama the user's primary financial hub, including:

  • Full launch of fiat accounts and digital cards (Visa) compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay.
  • Integration of new cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.
  • Rollout of B2B tools such as Payment links and recurring payments for businesses.
  • Initial phases of MyLama IA, our algorithmic financial assistant.

Conclusion: Money shouldn't need permission

Aligned with our long-term strategy, we understand that the current financial system isn't broken; it's simply limited. Today, capital remains subject to slow financial processes and closed structures with multiple intermediaries, while the rest of the world already operates in real time.

Lama is not simply a "fintech app"; we have built a new layer in the global financial system. Our purpose is not only to improve current services, but to operationally replace that structural friction. We want our users' and businesses' liquidity to move the way the world should: borderless and instant.

Because at the end of the day, money wasn't designed to sit still, much less to have to ask for permission. Welcome to the infrastructure of the future.
